New!    Health is one of the most  important aspects of our life, when we have it, we often take it for granted and get busy enjoying all the other things in life. However, when we do not, it can hang over our lives like a dark cloud.

Let me tell you something startling and I believe it to be true with all my heart. In many cases disease of the body is a result of dis-ease in the mind, soul, spirit, subconscious, call it what you will. The good news is, that means we can do something about it.

Eastern societies have long recognised this link and their medicinal techniques reflect a much more "holistic" approach to healing. It is a reality that our thoughts are closely linked to our physical bodies, dysfunction in one is often reflected in the other. Western medicine tends to treat  symptoms, often successfully "making it go away", but fail to treat the cause, raising the possibility of recurrence in one form or another.


Mind-Body Link and Causes of Illness

There is a large body of scientific evidence now showing that the immune system, previously thought of as the prime internal defence system, actually works closely with both the nervous and endocrine systems to carry out its task. These findings clearly indicates that our mind and our emotions can influence illness.

Our mind and our bodies are so closely linked and used to working automatically with each other that I believe that both positive and negativeinternalized beliefs in the mind are reflected in other parts of the body.  Or to put it another way, physical patterns are created in sympathy with mental patterns. I call the negative effects of this the "dark shadow", negative patterns in the mind casting a shadow into the body and the positive side "healing light", positive thoughts basking the body in healing light, summoning all your natural defences to action.

You do not have to look far in our society to see how negative self-image or beliefs lead to various degrees of self harm. From the deliberate self harm often seen in troubled teenagers to self destructive lifestyle choices and actions. These actions are often subconscious and compulsive or addictive in nature.

The subconscious will go to any lengths to achieve a perceived beneficial goal... including becoming sick, breaking a leg, just about anything if the mind can see that it is the only way to achieve its goal. When examined, these perceived beneficial goals are often based on fear.

Of course there are many other reasons why we get sick and some of those are out of our control, but being strong and healthy mentally is our very best defence against sickness and our strongest ally when it comes to healing.

Actions for Positive Health

The following goals are essential for living healthily and  healing.

Love and respect your whole selfWhen you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see a wonderful human being, a person you love and accept exactly the way you are? Look into your own eyes, how do you feel about yourself. Learning to Love the self is vital to good health.

Forgive everyoneForgiveness is a truly powerful healing tool, it does not condone what happened, it just releases you from continuing to be a victim. Anger and  resentment held over a long period WILL cause serious illness, it is vital to release it and let it go.

Be PositiveIt is medically proven that a positive outlook improves health outcomes. So be careful what you think and what you say. Never criticise yourself or others, acknowledge your negative thoughts and then release them, for they are no longer part of your life. Replace those thoughts with positive self-nurturing ones.

Start a programme of extreme self careIts time to get serious about caring for yourself at all levels, start doing the things you love, look after yourself, have some fun. Never accept criticism or negativity from anyone ( including yourself). Set time aside everyday, just for you, use to get back in touch with your inner self.

Make healthy, informed, self-nurturing choicesStart thinking consciously, be aware of your thoughts and words. If you are stuck, it usually because there is something you need to know. Make it your goal to always actively seek and understand the knowledge you need. This will enable you to make the correct choices for you.

Talk to your DoctorDo not abandon your medical support just because you find an alternative approach. If there is no urgency then give your self healing a chance to work, but if you need urgent treatment, take it. Talk to your doctor about what you are doing.

Exercise regularlyTo be healthy you must exercise, it really is as simple as that. Failure to or an inability to exercise will inevitably bring on health problems. I strongly recommend trying to adjust your lifestyle to naturally incorporate exercise as part of your normal life.  The more you exercise and the more powerfully you exercise, the better you will feel and you will also experience a thrilling boost to your natural energy levels. Remember to only exercise within your abilities, work up to it slowly. If you have any kind of medical condition, seek medical advise and support before undertaking exercise.
Choose a good diet for youReview your diet, is it really healthy? You are what you eat, good food is essential to healthy living, so no junk food!

http://www.vitalaffirmations.comFour ways to heal yourself I get quite a few emails from people asking me â€ËœIs there any way I can self-heal?’. The answer to that is yes, definitely. That’s what we’re doing in a session with a healer in any case â€â€œ they’re just the facilitator for our healing.

I would say the number one thing you can do to heal yourself is stop believing the negative thoughts you have. This is what healing is all about - getting rid of the false thoughts you have about yourself and the world, to bring you back in alignment with joy. You can also heal past events which have caused you to believe negative things about yourself and the world.

I believe that healing (bringing ourselves back into alignment with love and joy) is a big part of everyone̢۪s soul purpose here. Some people don̢۪t bother with healing until they̢۪re presented with an

ultimatum by their body.

Our bodies reflect our psyche. This is potentially a wonderful thing if you’re in great shape emotionally and spiritually, but on the other hand, if there is buried pain or discomfort inside you, it will at some point manifest into your physical reality. Here are some methods/online resources for self-healing which you can use by yourself:

1. Use EFT to tap on negative thoughts and emotions.

EFT is an acupressure technique which clears the energy meridians of negative energy. I know about Tapping.com because it̢۪s run by Magnus, my best friend̢۪s brother-in-law. I began using EFT last year to tap on strong emotions like anger and found it to be very effective. If you̢۪re new to EFT, he has videos on there which show you how to tap your negative thoughts and emotions.

2. My absolute favourite resource for self-healing is the work of Byron Katie:


If you have not yet heard about Byron Katie, here̢۪s a bit about her: Byron Katie spent ten years in a deep depression. She felt so unworthy that she slept on the floor even though she had a bed! For two years, she was unable to leave her bedroom because she was so depressed. One day, she came to the realization that when she believed her painful thoughts, she suffered and when she didn̢۪t believe them,

she didn’t suffer. Out of this she developed a method of inquiry, to question her painful thoughts and end her suffering. She now dedicates her life to doing â€Ëœthe work’ as she calls it, with other people.

â€ËœThe work’ consists of four questions to ask yourself when faced with a thought that doesn’t feel good:

  1. Is it true?
  1. Can you absolutely know that it̢۪s true?
  1. How do you react when you believe that thought?
  1. Who would you be without the thought?

I love this name â€â€œ â€ËœThe Work’. Our only work in life is to bring ourselves into alignment with joy and love, and stay there. That’s what this healing method helps us to do.

Why I love â€ËœThe Work’:

1. Our overall state of happiness is often so dependent on what we think is true about ourselves and our lives. The work is a reminder that just because we think it, doesn’t make it true. The work has helped me to find peace when faced with thoughts like: â€ËœI should have more money’, â€ËœI should be working more’, â€ËœI should be X or Y or Z, when I’m not!’. I used to live my life in a constant state of stress thinking things should be different. Through questioning my stressful thoughts, compared to before, I now spend vastly more time enjoying reality than I do fighting with it and thinking it should be otherwise.

2. The work also helps us to heal past events by putting a different perspective on them and showing you that â€Ëœnegative’ experiences are always blessings in disguise in that they have something to teach us or show us. I love the idea that as souls we always send ourselves the most loving experiences possible, even when they appear to be disastrous ones. Something in that strikes a chord of truth in me.

3. The work takes the focus off mindless activity and a state of doing and helps you to shift to a state of â€Ëœbeing’, where you can be fully present and enjoy reality. I know that one of my natural tendencies is definitely to pursue things that I think will make me happy. In giving in to this tendency, I miss out on enjoying where I am now.

I think that to some degree or other, we all have a tendency to do that â€â€œ we spend our lives going after something, whether it’s money, love, approval, success, essentially whatever we think will bring us happiness. We can’t find peace because we are attached to notions like â€ËœI should earn more money’, â€Ëœmy children should be more respectful’, â€Ëœmy wife should not have left me’. Instead of being at peace, we see a huge array of problems and are so intent on solving them that we forget that we’re not stopping to smell the roses and enjoy life.

The work is not just about healing, it̢۪s also a tool for manifesting a future that you do want. If you can release your negative beliefs and stories about your present reality, that in turn frees up lots of energy to create more of what you do want in the future! All good in my book.

If you’re new to questioning your thoughts and it seems a bit overwhelming, that’s a normal reaction I think. The fact that we may want to question that bad stuff is bad is definitely a revolutionary idea. I remember reading Katie’s book â€ËœA Thousand Names for Joy’ and thinking she was a bit of a nutcase. But I’ve returned to her books again and again because I am committed to squashing any negative thoughts and beliefs I have about reality and this method works so well for me.

3. Ask for the assistance of the angels to help you to release negative energies

I can think about a negative past event or situation and turn it over in my mind for weeks, but if I do the below exercise, it̢۪s gone within five minutes.

So I personally use the following exercise to release anything in my past that creeps up on me and makes me feel sad/embarrassed/guilty/angry/fearful. I̢۪m talking about the kind of memories which are so uncomfortable to think about, you stuff them into a corner of your brain. Did you know that repressing and burying memories or feelings actually uses up a lot of energy?

Things you can use this releasing exercise on:

  • Hurtful things said to you in the past
  • Things you have done/said in the past which you feel guilty about
  • To release strong anger, resentment or other negative feelings connected to past events
  • To?let go of?persistent negative memories which won’t leave you alone
  • To allow you to forgive somebody or to ask their forgiveness

Imagine a green light burning at your heart chakra. This represents your compassion for yourself.. Call on Archangel Michael and Archangel Raphael (Michael is the protector and Raphael the healer). (The angels come if you call them. But they respect your free will and will not come without your express invitation.)

Do a breathing exercise to quiet your thoughts and emotions and to raise your vibration. Inhale to the count of four, hold to the count of four and exhale to the count of eight, and repeat.

Set an intention for the releasing process. For example: â€ËœI intend to put X out of my mind’ or â€ËœI intend to release this emotion which is draining my energy’.

The releasing process is this:

Say out loud (or in your mind)

The anger I feel towards X for breaking his promise to me (as an example), thank you for being here.

All the parts of me which are protecting this issue, return now to Source

All the negative effects of this issue, return now to Source, never to return again or to affect me in mind, body or spirit.

The anger I feel towards X for breaking his promise to me, return now to Source, I forgive you, Thank you.

(Visualize the angels taking your anger to the light of God to be transmuted to love energy)

If there are lots of different feelings and aspects to your situation, you may want to split them up and release them one by one.

I am only just comprehending how powerful asking the angels to remove negativity really is. Using a method very similar to this one, I have seen amazing results with clients and myself. You may see working with angels as wishful thinking. It is really not. Ask the angels from your heart to help you and they will work on your behalf.

4. Let go of the hurtful things you̢۪ve heard from others

Another way to clear words or actions that have hurt you: My friend Anna Wolf (who is an angel intuitive and healer) recommends writing down any trauma/event or hurtful things that have been said onto a piece of paper and burning it. Another method to use is ripping up the paper into tiny pieces and putting it into a container filled with water. Then put the container in the freezer for three months.

We all have the fundamental desire to create an ideal world, where everyone is healthy, happy, and free of suffering. The habitual tendency we all have is to look around us, find out what’s wrong with the world, and then try to â€Å“fixâ€Â it.

While it’s true that horrible things happen around us everyday, to transform the world we all experience, we have to start with ourselves. We can onlycreate change in the world if we first start with our own individual healing.

When we heal a part in ourselves, we also heal that part in the world. In order to heal we must utilize the power of forgiveness.

I recall a night many years ago when I finally fully recognized how much I had been hurting myself with my persistent negative self-talk.

I used to believe that I wasn’t good enough to have and enjoy the type of life that I wanted, that I wasn’t attractive enough to meet the kind of man I dreamed of, or that I would never reach the ability to fulfill my potential.

Based on observing my mother, stepfather, and grandparents from an early age, I learned to feel guilty for all the good, as well as all the bad that occurred in life. I also learned to blame others, and that life is supposed to be a struggle.

I finally realized and felt what I had been doing to myself and how damaging this was, both physically and spiritually. Upon this realization I burst into tears and cried for a long time. I then, quite naturally, as I explored how to heal, initiated a process of forgiveness.

For hours as I hugged myself in bed, curled up in a ball, I recalled all the times I had unintentionally hurt myself by thinking and believing negative thoughts about myself.

Then I forgave myself for each item as it came to mind. I began journaling until there was nothing left inside me and all my tears had been wept. I wholly and completely released myself for the guilt and pain that I created in my life.

I also recognized that no one in my life had hurt me except for myself. I decided to take responsibility for my feelings and my life and put an end to my suffering.

Other people can and could only hurt me if allowed them toâ€â€if I believed their words and actions were reflections of who I am, rather than a reflection of how they feel about themselves.

I essentially became aware of this cycle of pain and forgave and released myself from those old, negative behavior patterns. Consequently, I also forgave and released all the people who I felt had hurt me.

The reality of what had happened set me free and healed enormous portions of my life.

Much of the pain we experience in our everyday life is self-created through our thoughts and beliefs about our circumstances. We then project this suffering into the world as external experiences, which we often try to â€Å“fixâ€Â by making changes or building walls in our external affairs.

When we accept responsibility for our experiences and feelings, we learn that we have more control over our lives than we thought.

We cannot control what happens in the world around us but we can choose how we interpret and interact with it. Cleaning up our thoughts and forgiving ourselves is a great way to start.

An excellent technique is to write down all the things you want to forgive yourself for, write yourself a letter of forgiveness, and talk it out to yourself or with someone you really love and trust.

Then tell yourself that you̢۪re so very sorry that what happened, happened; that you said what you said; that you thought what you thought and that you did what you did. Really feel it.

Allow the forgiveness to flow through your body and release you. Cry until you feel empty and there’s nothing left. Complete this process many times as you need. Right here, now, healing has occurred. And that healing has a ripple effect throughout the world. See, you can change the world!

From there, you can choose to do things differently. Become aware of the thoughts you think about yourself, because upon repetition those thoughts become real. Choose to think good, loving, healing, gentle, and kind thoughts.

And the next time you come upon some kind of blockage in life, go through this process again.

I am still learning to do this. I sometimes catch a negative thought or belief that has been hiding away in my subconscious, but I see this as a gift for me to grow and heal more as I transform them into positive beliefs.

This is what I consider to be a miracle. Every time I forgive myself, I create more space for love, happiness, and world change.

While forgiving ourselves, on its own, won̢۪t end global suffering or create world peace, creating peace within will better enable us to find and enact solutions to the larger problems we all face.

Healing myself creates a ripple affect across the universe which results in more and more people that I come in contact with healing themselves, creating a changed and healed world. The same goes for you.
